The software is yours whether you pay monthly or all at once, though a one-time payment saves you $4,000.

This is not a subscription. This is ownership on a schedule, like lay-away but you get to use the product immediately. After you've paid in full, the software requires $0/month on our end.

Note: there will be tiny costs from cloud compute, but in our experience this costs a few coffees a month compared to hundreds.

FAQ

Do we actually get the source code?
Yes, at acceptance, along with the build and deployment instructions. It is a listed obligation in Section 2.5 of the license, not a favor and not an escrow arrangement. You can read that section before you contact us.
Can we change the code ourselves?
Yes. You may inspect, repair, modify, and extend it for your own business at any time, without our consent and without notifying us — and that right does not expire when our 30 days end. You own the changes you write; we keep the underlying software they are built on. If you would rather we made the change, we will quote it, but you are never obligated to ask.
Can we hire our own developer to work on it?
Yes, with three conditions: they sign a confidentiality agreement at least as protective as ours, they are not in the business of selling contractor software that competes with ours, and you tell us who they are before you give them access. You stay responsible for what they do with it.
So what can't we do with it?
Sell the software, license it, give it away, or sell any product, system, or service built from it. That is the entire restriction, and it is the reason the price can be $20,000 once instead of $650 a month forever. You are otherwise free to run it, change it, and keep it running long after we are gone.
Why publish your contracts on the website?
Because we are asking you to stop renting software from vendors whose terms you have never read. It would be strange to make that argument and then hide our own paperwork until you were far enough down the sales process to feel committed. The license and the NDA are posted in full, with a plain-English summary at the top of each.
What happens after the 30 days of monitoring?
The system is yours and it keeps running. If you later want changes or new features, those are quoted separately as one-time work.
What if we need something the core system doesn't do?
Check out our current list of add-on modules that enhance capabilities. Any custom development is quoted as a separate project.
Who owns the data?
You do, entirely. The system runs on Google Cloud infrastructure that you control, and your business data stays there. There is no third-party vendor cloud holding your operation hostage.
Are these real AIA forms?
No. The system produces progress billing in the AIA G702/G703 format, and exports cleanly so you can push the data into your own licensed AIA software if your GC requires official forms. *Office Independence Systems is not affiliated with or endorsed by The American Institute of Architects.
We're not very technical. Is this going to be a big project?
Deployment and training take about a week total, and the training is aimed at office staff, not IT people. If your office manager can handle basic spreadsheets, they will find this even easier to use.
Why is it a one-time price instead of a subscription?
We believe that software built properly doesn't need to be rented and, we've structured the deal to reflect our belief. Subscription models incentivize charging you forever and encouraging dependence; one-time licenses incentivize us to build something that actually works and holds up over time.
Is the monthly option a subscription?
No. You get the same perpetual license either way. Cash is $20,000 once. The plan is $2,000 × 12 ($24,000). After that, nothing is required month to month (same as paying cash). Later changes are still quoted as one-time work.
